I have this nasty habit where if I don’t want to be bothered by someone, or some people…I just go completely cold turkey on them. It’s probably not the most considerate thing to do…but if I feel like I put my all into people, only to feel shitted on or our acquaintanceship, regardless of how meaningful, is toxic and useless…then I feel like I have the right to completely eliminate them from my life without any notice.
It seems like I treat some people like at-will employment or something. I think I just have callous tendencies that seem to balance my naturally EXTREMELY nice personality…probably a bit unhealthy.
Eh.
So I just got done watching Red Tails.
For those unfamiliar with the Tuskegee Airmen (which I would probably consider a damn shame), you should google search them and educate yourselves.
To finally have a motion picture documenting the struggles of these brave black pilots out on the big screen is a highlight all on it’s own. Tuskegee Airmen, the first movie with Lawrence Fishburne, Cuba Gooding Jr. and plenty others, was an HBO special, so while the making of the movie still counts in my book, to push a movie through to the big screen is definitely a plus.
Unfortunately, besides the action scenes, that’s about the only real positive thing about the movie…not to mention the action scenes are all but guaranteed seeing that it is a George Lucas film. For those that don’t know George Lucas, once again, google search him for I would feel pretty bad for those who haven’t heard his name by now.
The acting in the movie was subpar at best. Besides some good lines by Terrance Howard, I really don’t believe any of the other actors had a chance to really act. Their characters seemed to have been one-dimensional by design. It seemed like they just threw Cuba Gooding Jr. in this movie to honor him for being in the first film, Tuskegee Airmen (sidenote: I will admit that I was astounded that he did not cry in this movie, like he does in every movie). He had very simply-written lines that invoked no emotion with the exception of one brief monologue, which is detectable from a mile away that he knew this was his ONLY time to shine in this movie. The other characters, in my opinion, kinda leave you hangin’. There’s no chance to connect to the characters, their lines are extremely cliche, and it just appears like each character was placed together to act this movie with no chemistry. If it weren’t for the fact that this movie is supposed to primarily highlight historical context, any semblance of a plot is extremely shallow.
As aforementioned above, the actions scenes did provide a spotlight for the movie. However, I will say one of my brothers swore up and down that he saw a wire from a few of the planes in the movie.
I will admit that I feel as if I may have been spoiled from watching Tuskegee Airmen, thinking that Red Tails would add to it’s legacy and one-up it’s predecessors. However, that wasn’t the case at all. For any that are interested in going to see this movie, I’d honestly just wait until it hits Netflix. Save you a bit of money, or purchase the original. I will say though, do watch both…not necessarily for the entertainment, but because of the educational value both movies possess.

A message from a close friend on FB.
So, here’s a ‘greatest hits’ of my last recent posts on facebook
I responded with this “Nothing is going on with me. My posts aren’t negative or angry… they’re about things that are going on around us. I’m using my FB to talk about things that are important to me, that’s all. Trying to get people to think.”
I suppose that because I don’t post about mindless pop culture shit or a minute by minute timeline of my day, that something is wrong with me and I’m negative. I’d rather use my Facebook to encourage discussion about important topics— and that makes me… negative. Oh. Okay then.
I supposed FB is a form of escapism for my “friends” and they’d rather not see serious shit on their newsfeed. There’s a simple solution to that. Unfriend my ass. I promise, I won’t take it personally.
But to assume there’s something wrong with me because I post about serious shit? Its making me re-evaluate our friendship. Because you don’t really know me….

You know popular culture doesn’t encourage learning. Sadly, a good portion of society maintains an “ignorance is bliss” mentality, so any form of substantiated information is likely to be given the other cheek. We’re quite the brainwashed society as a whole.
I would like to have a little bit more faith in our own people sometimes…
Gawjus.
Am I the only one that starts to read an English comic like manga, and then feels stupid once realizing that it’s an English comic, and not manga?
Damn this baby face!
Not that I’m trying to be vain or anything (I will say I do consider myself at least handsome)…but I tend to attract those that would put me in jail!
It ain’t cool man.
Ain’t cool at all.
No shots fired at any underage readers. (Like I have many of those things.)
